Sterile Universal Pack
How to operate the disposable surgical drape?
Oct 31 , 2020

In the process of medical surgery, the use of disposable surgical drapes is essential. When blood, body fluids and medical fluids are discharged, the surgical drape is required to have good absorbability. Not only that, the surgical drape must also prevent liquid leakage, prevent and reduce surgical environmental pollution, cross-infection and liquid splashing on medical staff, which affects the safety of medical staff.

The function of one-time operation sheet is as follows:

1. Isolation

Surgical drapes isolate the aseptic area from the known contaminated area during sterile or non-sterile operations.

2. Waterproof barrier

The material used to provide a sterile surface shall be waterproof and prevent leakage of liquid.

3. Sterile area

The aseptic drape can isolate the surgical area from the surrounding non-sterile area to form a sterile area, and the sterile area must be manufactured by aseptic technology.

4. Sterile surface

Since the skin cannot be sterilized, an adhesive sterile film is used on the skin surface to form a sterile surface on the incision and surrounding skin.

5. Fluid control (blood control)

Keep patients dry, prevent body fluid from affecting electrode plate and electrode sticking, reduce potential cross infection between patients and reduce cleaning time.

6. The sterile drape is used to isolate the surgical area and non-sterile equipment

Such as X-ray machines, monitors, image intensifiers, cameras, management equipment and pipelines.

Surgical Drape Sheets

The operation of a one-time operation sheet laying:

Lay four pieces of treatment towel: usually, lay the opposite side of the operator, or the relatively unclean area (such as perineum, lower abdomen and head), and finally lay the side close to the operator (such as abdominal surgery, the covering sequence is from the bottom, the opposite side, then the upper part, the current side or the first bottom part, the upper part, the opposite side and the current side). Then place a middle order above and below each, and finally cover a large sterile sheet.

Notes:

1. The head end should be covered over the patient's head and anesthesia frame, and both sides and foot ends should be sagged more than 30cm beyond the edge of the operating table.

2. When laying the sheet, it is necessary to avoid too small exposure of the surgical incision, and as little as possible to expose the skin around the incision. Generally, there should be six layers of sterile towels around the operating area, with at least two layers on the outer periphery; only a piece of sterile hole towel is enough for minor operations.
